About Cathy Giessel

Cathy is a lifelong Alaskan, born and raised in Fairbanks.

Cathy along with her husband, Richard Giessel raised 3 children in the home Rich built on the Anchorage Hillside in 1980. Their five grandchildren live in the Anchorage area and regularly play in their home in Anchorage.

Senator Giessel is an advanced nurse practitioner and has delivered healthcare in a variety of clinics in Anchorage, as well in small communities in the North Slope Borough. She currently volunteers at a homeless clinic in Anchorage.

Senator Giessel was elected to the State Senate in 2010 to represent the Anchorage Hillside, Stuckagain Heights and Eagle River. She was re-elected in 2012 to represent the Anchorage Hillside and the northern half of the Kenai Peninsula. Senator Giessel is now running for re-election to represent the Anchorage Hillside, Stuckagain Heights and NE Anchorage.
